I have an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and a B.A in English Literature from the University of Virginia. I grew up in Virginia and moved to California about 30 years ago. Prior to being a Psychotherapist I was a High School English teacher in Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. I was also a stay at home Dad for several years. I've been a serious meditator for thirty years. That, lots of physical exercise, and healthy eating have greatly helped manage my ADHD (That and a wonderful wife with highly developed executive functioning skills). As a therapist, I started my career at St Vincent's School for Boys in San Rafael working with boys between the ages of 7-18 with extensive trauma histories (nearly all of them had been diagnosed with ADHD). I worked there for 7 years before starting my private practice. I've been married for 23 years and have two awesome adult children: a son about to start college, and a daughter starting her senior year of college. I live in Marin with three generations of my family and a sizable Great Pyrenees.
